Ephedra Side Effects?
Within the bounds of recommended doses,
ephedra has been shown to have little side-effects in most people – generally,
any side-effects attributed to ephedra usually occur at above average doses. However,
there are certain people
that should absolutely NOT take ephedra - this include those pregnant and/or
nursing.
In these cases, side-effects may include fast heartbeat, anxiety, and jitteriness.
Moreover, more serious side-effects are normally only seen at high doses above recommended
levels, and include high blood pressure, vomiting and very fast heartbeat. As a
result, these rather severe side-effects have lead people to wonder
if ephedra could be dangerous - however, as mentioned before, these extreme
cases are only associated with times of abuse.
Because many people take ephedra when starting an
exercise regiment, the above mentioned side effects can be quite serious
if they occur during exercise – however, as already mentioned, they are usually
only associated with cases of excess doses of ephedra.
Also, please be aware that many ephedra products also contain
caffeine, which in itself can cause nervousness, anxiety, rapid heart-beat,
and in extreme cases even insomnia. Moreover, please be aware that using ephedra
can rarely result in a
false-positive during drug testing, namely for amphetamines.
As always, please consult youSr physician before taking ephedra either as a diet
supplement or a nasal decongestant. When taken at normal doses, ephedra has been
shown to be an all natural and safe means of both increasing your energy levels
and loosing weight.
